18.04 2013 Awards and other good news

The Get IT! conference is a traditionally free event. Sponsors and partners are ready to provide participants with additional opportunities, awards and surprises in addition to their contribution to the development of the IT-community.

29.03 2013 The conference program is complete, new speakers announced!

Get IT! participants will be able to receive up to date information in all areas of game development. Gladly, two more speakers have joined us for this purpose.

Rostislav Chekmarev represents the company Renatus, which sponsors the conference as well as shows willingness to share unique experience in publishing and marketing of mobile and social games with Get IT! participants. Rostislav is a Manager for Development and Investment. With a deep understanding of the issue in his report "Making a successful mobile game. Marketing and Publishing." He will tell us what to consider when creating games and explain why one needs a business angel or a publisher. The report will also describe monetization models, approaches to product marketing and traffic attraction.

We are especially proud to present the report "Creating art for cross-platform games" by the animation artist in the company iLogos Oleg Akimov. Oleg has been working in the industry since 2001 (when one drew with a mouse, and it was not always optical). Within this time he has gained a great experience of working on animation and game projects of varying complexity and scale (as well as 80 lvl of drawing with a tablet). He is also a great speaker and a regular reporter of conferences and seminars in the field of Game Dev. During his speech at Get IT! Oleg will talk about preparing graphics and animation for cross-platform games. Tools and some technical issues, as well as approaches to the choice of style graphics and animation for such applications will be discussed.

20.03 2013 Game Dev evangelist Vitaly Khit to become the Get IT! speaker

The conference is about to start in more than a month, and we have over a hundred participants registered! We are sure, after today’s update of our speakers list their number will grow even faster.

With great pleasure we welcome the legendary personality of game dev Vitaly Khit for a session at Get IT!. Our hero has been developing casual games since last century (when the sky used to be clearer, the grass greener, and games much less in amount). During these years hundreds of casual projects have been released by him personally or under his leadership. Vitaly is a wonderful speaker, he has already had a report at Get IT! last spring, and his session had received rave reviews. This time the topic "Development of multi-platform casual games: pitfalls, bumps, practice" is waiting for us. The author will share a decade-lasting experience of multiplatform games development. His practical advices will help both the beginners and experienced developers to avoid annoying problems and make development more efficient. In the form of a question-answer Vitaly will cover topics related to programming, graphics, animation and game design. The report will be interesting and useful for everyone - programmers, artists, designers and producers.

15.03 2013 We are pleased and proud to announce the first speakers of the conference

On April, 27 over 400 developers will meet in Kharkiv to discuss Game Dev current trends: engines, platforms and consoles.

We tried to gather the main heroes of Get IT! Different game development industry areas. Indie development, flash animation, an open-source project, a development platform and marketing. Lets have a closer look at our presenters.

The first speaker will be Denis Romanko, an indie developer, particularly known fo his blog xitri.com, devoted to flash games tips and tricks. He has been involved in web development since 2002. Denis is a regular speaker, this time on the topic "Addictiveness, or a simple way to hook the player." We shall get to know why games become hits, find out the definition of a "successful game play" and the way to achieve it. Denis will show how to make a game interesting, regardless of its platform.

We look forward to the technical report by Andrey Andreev, indie developer, programmer, experimenter, working in the flash more than three years. He has worked on several vast gaming projects. Before coming into the industry, he was engaged in the tasks of high-precision calculations, using the resources of the processor and graphics card. Andrew has worked on mobile and browser version of the famous game "Tanki Online". His report "Magic without dirty hacks" will be purely technical, with the description of experiments on the subject of gestures, p2p, network, and their results. Andrew will talk about those results that are used in the development of real projects with no theoretical assumptions in it.

A promising report “ScummVM, a multiplatform family of adventure game engines " will be presented by Eugene Sandulenko. Eugene is the Project Lead of an open-source project ScummVM. He’s been in the project since 2003 and now leads a team of 75 developers. ScummVM is a hobby, originally he is in IT since 1992. The report will be devoted to the history, architecture, and future the platform for playing 2-d point and click adventures.

A marketing report "TV Revolution. The history of a small though proud console"will be presented by Tanja Evdokimenko, iLogos. Tanja, PR-manager with the experience in expert work on game projects, tracks game industry trends. She will describe the completion of the well-known series of consoles PSP, PlayStation and Xbox – with the revolutionary OUYA. The console based on Android, the story of its creation, application store and marketing solutions will be discussed, along with the iLogos company's experience in developing and porting applications to OUYA.

You’ve been waiting for this event since September, and now we are ready to share the good news: Get IT! will be held in April 2013. We have decided to have Kharkiv as the hosting, and want everything to be even more interesting, bigger and grander.
